170 years of Italian shipbuilding
Baglietto's history is one of the longest in yacht construction — the yard was founded by Pietro Baglietto in Varazze, on the Ligurian coast, in 1854. The early decades focused on sailing vessels and small craft; by the early twentieth century, the yard had established a reputation for fast military boats that would define its engineering culture for the next century. Baglietto built torpedo boats and patrol vessels for the Italian Navy through both World Wars — a heritage that directly informs the yard's emphasis on speed, hull efficiency, and structural integrity in its modern yacht programme.
The transition to luxury yachts accelerated in the 1960s and 1970s, and by the 1990s Baglietto had established itself as one of Italy's leading yacht builders in the 35–55 metre segment. The yard relocated from Varazze to a modern facility in Massa, and the appointment of Francesco Paszkowski as the yard's primary exterior designer created a design language that has become synonymous with the Baglietto name.
The T-Line: fast displacement redefined
The T-Line is Baglietto's defining product — a series of fast displacement motor yachts that achieve the seemingly contradictory goal of combining speed with displacement-hull comfort. The hull form, developed in collaboration with Plana Design's naval architecture team, uses a modified semi-displacement geometry that allows the vessel to operate efficiently at both displacement speeds (10–12 knots) and higher speeds (16–20 knots) without the excessive fuel consumption or uncomfortable ride of a planing hull.
The range currently spans five models: the T38 (38m), T44 (44m), T48 (48m), T52 (52m), and T55 (55m, under development). All use aluminium construction — lighter than steel, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for the speed profile of the T-Line concept. Interiors are Italian throughout, with the yard's in-house team and external studios like Francesco Paszkowski Design collaborating on layouts that prioritise light, volume, and connection to the water.

Buying a Baglietto
Baglietto yachts on the brokerage market benefit from the yard's long production history and the familiarity that surveyors and insurers have with the product. The aluminium construction is well-understood, the classification (RINA) is standard, and the yard's documentation is typically thorough. Older Baglietto vessels from the pre-T-Line era (1990s–2000s) offer particularly strong value — well-built Italian aluminium yachts at price points significantly below current market comparables.
